Tottenham vs Wolves
English Premier League
Date: Saturday, 20 August 2022
Kick-off at 12:30 UK/ 13:30 CET
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (London).
Tottenham Hotspur start as heavy favorites when they welcome Wolves for Saturday’s English Premier League fixture.
Spurs will be in good spirits after earning a point via late equalizer at Stamford Bridge to preserve their unbeaten run at the start of this season.
And yes, they were lucky to have escaped with the 2-2 draw against Chelsea. The first equalizing goal from Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg should have been chalked off and I have a different opinion about Harry Kane’s late header.
At the same time, the short tango of Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte at the final whistle will remain in the memories of football fans for some time.
Anyhow, this is a promising start for the team that crushed Southampton 4-1 on matchday 1. One must be impressed by their attacking play and there is a good chance for this side to engage in many high scoring games this season.
Wolves on the other hand are yet to come to the fore and they managed to pick just 1 point from the two games played so far.
On matchday 1, they could not capitalize on an early lead and went down 1-2 at Leeds United. While a familiar trend as in previous seasons occurred in the goal-less draw against newly promoted Fulham last weekend.
The Wolves managed just 1 goal per game last season and it was slightly worse in the previous. This will be a serious problem going against strong teams.
Tottenham vs Wolves Head-to-head
There is little to separate the teams from recent head-to-head meetings as Tottenham won 4 of the 8 and Wolves bagged 3 wins with 1 match ending in stalemate.
However, Wolves have consistently troubled the Spurs while this fixture is played at White Hart Lane. They snatched 3 wins while losing the other.
Raul Jimenez and Dendoncker scored within 20 minutes in the 2-0 victory of Bruno Lage’s men in the corresponding fixture last season.
It is worth noting that Tottenham are unbeaten in the first h2h Premier League meeting between the teams in the last six campaigns, 5 wins and 1 draw.
Tottenham vs Wolves Prediction
We have seen nothing from Wolves so far to convince them that they can trouble the quality teams in the English Premier League.
Meanwhile, Spurs produced two excellent displays and their firepower upfront will be too hot to handle for Wolves on Saturday
