Barcelona vs Villarreal
Spain – La Liga
Date: Thursday, 20 October 2022
Kick-off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Camp Nou.
The Catalans faced their first league defeat of the season the last match-day, against arch-rivals Real Madrid. They need a quick return to form, and will try their absolute best at home this Thursday to secure a huge win against Villarreal, who are on a long winless stretch.
The Yellow Submarines registered just three wins in total so far, and only one of those came in the past five match-days. And this victory came against the dead-last placed Elche.
One of their other two wins came against the 17th placed Valladolid. Do also note that their latest league victory on the road came back in August.
If not for the Conference League, they would have been counted as total disasters even by their fans.
However, one thing that they can be proud of – is their defense. They have let in the least number of goals of all the teams in the competition – just three goals from eight fixtures.
Meanwhile, Xavi’s men are facing a period of challenges. Their future in the Champions League looks bleak, and they once more will have to face the embarrassment of taking part in the Europa. For a club of their stature, it is so.
And their only high point of the season was their first-placed position in the La Liga. But that came to an end the previous game-week, and in the most hurtful way possible.
Their unbeaten run, and their impressive defensive stats were absolutely butchered by arch-rivals Real Madrid.
As such, the Catalans are desperate. Count on them to go after a win at any cost against the struggling Villarreal. It helps that they are at home.

Barcelona vs Villarreal Prediction & Analysis
Forget the loss against Real Madrid. Other than that the Catalans were on fire in the La Liga. They are also at home this Thursday – where they have a 100% winning record barring a draw. Note that they are also yet to let in a goal at this stadium.
On the other hand, the Yellow Submarines could manage to post only three wins so far. And they are also on a long winless stretch on the road.
On top of that they have a poor h2h record against this rival.
By the looks of things expect a win for Barcelona this Thursday at their home.
