Transfer News: Done Deals, Chelsea Set To Appoint New Sporting Director, Liverpool Eye Real Madrid Star



Christoph Freund is expected to be named sporting director at Chelsea. The RB Salzburg administrator is thought to have agreed verbal terms on the role that new co-controlling owner Todd Boehly has filled on an interim basis this summer. Freund is thought to have impressed Blues owners Boehly and Behdad Eghbali with his shrewdness, bold ideas and passion.

Liverpool will reportedly try again next summer to land Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde according to Football365. The Reds apparently launched a failed bid of €100m for the Uruguayan this summer and eventually signed Arthur Melo on loan. The Premier League side are also favourites to land Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund next season.

Mourinho wanted Arsenal’s Xhaka

Granit Xhaka remained committed to Arsenal despite being wanted by Bayer Leverkusen and AS Romaaccording to Fabrizio Romano via Caughtoffside. Romano claimed that Mourinho is an admirer of the Swiss international and he wanted to sign the midfielder last year but Xhaka chose not to leave the North London club.
