REPORTS: Chelsea midfielder wants to stay and sign a new contract despite interest from Barcelona



Without much doubts, Chelsea football club will most definitely remain keen on challenging the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal for trophies this season.

The West London club have enjoyed a brilliant 2022/2023 football season so far as they are currently occupying the 4th position on the Premier League table under manager Graham Potter.

And ahead of their next league matches, Chelsea football club remain keen on making moves to keeping some of their best players at the club for the foreseeable future.

And if reports are anything to go by, then experienced Chelsea defensive midfielder Jorginho could be next in line to sign a new long-term contract at the West London club.

The 30-year-old Italy International, who signed up for Chelsea football club after departing Serie A side Napoli in 2018 has been an important member of the first-team squad over the previous seasons.

The experienced defensive midfielder was hugely influential for Chelsea football club during the 2021/2022 season where he scored nine goals and created five assists in 47 appearances in all competitions.

Jorginho has also been quite impressive for Chelsea football club so far this new 2022/2023 football season, having already scored two goals in the 12 matches he has played.

But then, Jorginho has just one year left on his current contract with Chelsea and having not signed a new contract, he could be planning to leave the club when the transfer window opens.

But according to reports from The Sun, the experienced midfielder Jorginho wants to stay at Chelsea football club and he will not hesitate to sign a new long-term contract if he is offered.

The reports further claimed that despite interest from Barcelona, Jorginho does not want to leave the Stamford Brdige side just yet and he is willing to pen down a new deal.

But then, it remains to be seen if Chelsea football club will choose to offer Jorginho or new contract or will prefer to cash in on him when the transfer window opens in January
