Observations Made After Graham Potter’s Chelsea Defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 Away

Chelsea were in action against Crystal Palace in the English Premier League. It was Graham Potter’s second game as Chelsea’s manager, and the team struggled to a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace. Crystal Palace got the first goal of the game after Edouard converted Jordan Ayew’s cross in the early minute of the first half.
Chelsea’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored his first goal for Chelsea in the second half to equalize for the away team. It took Chelsea the second half substitute, Conor Gallagher, to score the winner for them. It is a good thing that Chelsea won the game, but the fans made observations about Graham Potter, the new manager of the team.
Graham Potter seems not to be good when it comes to choice of players. He had his tactics against Crystal Palace right, but the players he started in the match were questionable.
He started Ben Chilwell ahead of Marc Cucurella, and he was lucky that Wilfred Zaha did not take advantage of Ben Chilwell. Reece James silenced Wilfred Zaha in the game, and he decided to switch to Ben Chilwell’s wing, and then he started tormenting the English player. If Marc Cucurella is fit, there is no reason for him to be on the bench.
Kai Havertz should have been on the bench in the game. He made little or no difference in the game for Chelsea. Armando Broja came into the match and his presence was felt.
Under Graham Potter, Chelsea’s defense seems vulnerable. Fans criticized Thomas Tuchel for being too defensive minded, but Chelsea had a solid performance under him. Playing attacking football is good, but being defensive minded is better.,
Graham Potter also has to instruct his players to be more clinical in front of goal. Chelsea were the better team in the game, and yet, it took them almost 90 minutes to score the winner against Crystal Palace. If he has his tactics right at Chelsea, the team can still compete for the English Premier League title.
