Kai Havertz’ Display For Germany Today Shows Why He Doesn’t Deserve A Place In The Starting Lineup

Germany suffered an embarrassing 2-1 defeat in their crucial World Cup game against Japan on Wednesday afternoon. It wasn’t a bad performance from the German side, but the manager will be unhappy with the result.

Germany started the game on the front foot as they managed to grab the breakthrough goal in the 33rd minute through Gundogan. Kai Havertz thought he had doubled the lead for Germany right before the end of the first half but his strike was disallowed for offside.

The German side looked very likely to score the second goal of the game but their attackers failed to finish the chances that came their way.

Japan turned the game around in the closing stages of the second half to steal all three points from Germany.

However, it is quite easy to point fingers at Kai Havertz and some other attackers for their failure to kill off the game when they had the chances.

Kai Havertz was by far the most unproductive player for Germany on the pitch as he had the fewest number of touches in the game. The Chelsea attacker also failed to create any significant chance, mustered just one shot, lost the ball three times, and lost more duels (5) than any other German player.

Kai Havertz’ performance in today’s game against Japan shows that he doesn’t deserve a place in the starting lineup because he offers nothing significant to the team.
