Here Are 2 Things The Chelsea Team Need To Stop Doing This Season

Published

on

This Saturday, against Crystal Palace, Graham Potter will coach Chelsea for the first time in the Premier League after being hired as Thomas Tuchel’s replacement a few weeks ago.

Chelsea is currently ranked seventh in the Premier League after six league games played this season due to inconsistent play, despite spending more than £250 million during the most recent transfer window.

Graham Potter, the new manager of Chelsea, will likely be given some time to assemble the team in line with his own vision, just as Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp did with Manchester City and Liverpool, respectively, over a period of time. However, Potter is aware that Chelsea is a major big club and will need to produce successful results and take home trophies even as he works to assemble the team.

In order to boost the team’s performance and position them for success this season, Graham Potter is expected to make some immediate adjustments to the way they play.

In this article, we will be writing on the things the Chelsea team would need to stop doing so as to have a very successful campaign this season.

1. Stop Players Position Experiments

One significant issue that has likely hindered the productivity of the Chelsea players and caused them to perform below par is the use of players outside of their preferred position on the field.

The likes of Callum Hodson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and even Reece James, who was deployed in the right center back positions on a few occasions, are all players who have been impacted by the change of preferred position. Thomas Tuchel is known to have experimented with some Chelsea players in the last two years, using them outside of their preferred positions.

If Graham Potter wants the Chelsea players to give their all for the team, he should work to get this one thing right with them.

When playing in situations where they are more at ease, all athletes have a special strength that improves their on-field performances.

Hodson-Odoi prefers to play as a left or right attacking winger rather than a wing back, and Mason Mount prefers to play as a midfielder or an attacking midfielder rather than a winger. Christian Pulisic prefers to play on the left wing rather than the left wing back or the right wing.

All this things is what Graham Potter should take notes, so as to get the best out of his players.

2. Stop Conceding Easy Goals

Chelsea appears to have lost some defensive tenacity this season, as seen by the fact that they have only managed to keep one clean sheet so far, which occurred in their season-opening victory over Everton.

In order to be successful at the end of the season, they would need to figure out how to further strengthen their defense this season.
