Heading back to the Bridge? Impressive Premier League star could be set for stunning Chelsea return as Tuchel eyes up deal

Chelsea could look into the idea of bringing Tariq Lamptey back to Stamford Bridge this transfer window.

The Blues have one of the very best squads in the Premier League and will be tipped to challenge Manchester City for that title, but a couple of injuries over the past few months could cause Thomas Tuchel some issues.

The German boss said himself at the start of the month that he was not planning a busy transfer window, but confirmation that Ben Chilwell needs surgery, and the recent injury to Reece James means that he may need to delve into that transfer kitty after all.

And IcFootballnews has learned that he may be interested in bringing back the highly-sought after Brighton star Lamptey.

The 21 year-old, who made his senior debut for Chelsea in the Premier League back in December 2019, was one of the most highly-rated players at the Bridge, but Chelsea decided to cash-in knowing they already had Reece James in their ranks.

It has been no surprise to see that Lamptey has gone on to develop into one of the best right-backs in the Premier League, despite the fact that he has been plagued by injuries over the last 12 months, and he has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.

But Chelsea inserted a buy-back clause in the contract of Lamptey when he departed the club, and considering they admire the player, are reportedly looking into taking him back to cover James, and then maybe challenge the England International.

There is no doubt that Lamptey is destined for one of the big clubs in England, he has some serious potential guys, so it will be interesting to see if Chelsea do make a move as the lad does have the quality to play for a club like Chelsea.

His future is bright and the board must be feeling they made a mistake letting the lad leave
