Chelsea suffer Romelu Lukaku injury blow during Champions League clash vs Malmo

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku was forced off injured after less than 20 minutes in his side’s clash with Malmo.

The Blues, who took the lead very early on through Andreas Christensen against the Swedish outfit, had the chance to double their tally when Lukaku was awarded a penalty after some fine work from the Belgian

Jorginho converted from the spot to make it 2-0, but Lukaku then walked straight down the tunnel with Thomas Tuchel bringing on Kai Havertz to replace him.

Tuchel spoke before the game about the Belgium international and listed fatigue as an issue when asked about his striker’s recent form

The Chelsea boss told BT Sport before the game: “We expect goals, he expects goals and we want to bring him into the positions but at the same time but my feeling is with him that he played in too many competitions.

“He is such a competitor, he will always give 100% when he plays for his country, he’s proud, he’s ambitious. He was not happy when they don’t win the Euros.

“I have no doubt in his quality. I have no doubt in his personality but things are not so easy for him right now because I think he played too much
