Chelsea handed dream Champions League draw as Man Utd, Liverpool & Man City learn simulated fate

Chelsea would play the reigning French champions in’s predicted run of the Champions League last-16 draw

After securing their place in the Champions League round of 16, Chelsea will be keen to learn the next opponents they have to face in the defence of their crown.

The Blues booked their route through to the knockout rounds having finished as Group H runners-up behind Italian giants Juventus, meaning they are set to take on a group winner in the next round.

With all of the group stage fixtures now finished, Chelsea could still be matched up against Ajax, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich or Lille, with each of those sides finishing top of their respective groups.

Following a predicted run of the draw, Thomas Tuchel’s men have been handed somewhat of a dream scenario with an upcoming clash against the French outfit.

Whilst still undoubtedly a challenge, with Les Dogues having lifted the Ligue 1 title last term, they have not been as convincing this season. They won just three of their six group matches and at the time of writing sit 11th in the current French standings after an underwhelming start to their title defence.

The Blues would also want to have avoided both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid – whilst also being spared a clash with an Ajax side who won each of their six group games – something the predictor said they would.

Whilst it was not possible for Chelsea to be matched up against a fellow English side, there is no doubt that the Blues will look at Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City’s draw with intrigue.

Meanwhile, Ralf Rangnick’s Manchester United were drawn to face Portuguese champions Sporting Clube de Portugal. Across the city, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City face a predicted showdown with Spanish outfit Villarreal.
