Reports have claimed that Chelsea are closing in on a deal to sign defender Joules Kounde.
The likes of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta could all walk away from Stamford Bridge for nothing this summer when their contracts expire – something that would leave Thomas Tuchel with few options at the back.
And with the club potentially leaving three important first-team players, the Blues are reportedly targeting replacements with experience of playing at the top of European football.
That has led to them to keep looking at the prospect of bringing the impressive Kounde to the Premier League at the end of the season.
After establishing himself at Sevilla, Kounde is now regarded as one one of the very best young defenders in the game and a player that is tipped to go on and become the best centre-half in the game
Now, According to Tutto Mercato Web, the Blues are coming “with strength to try to close the operation”.
The Blues have reportedly got director Marina Granovskaia leading the attempt, and are ready to offer an initial payment of £46million plus £4m in bonuses and Tutto Mercato Web claims the agreement between the clubs “seems close”, and the defender could indeed leave Sevilla to join the Blues this summer.
If the reports are true and Chelsea are closing in on a deal for Kounde, they would be signing a player that has the ability to be a real leader at the back for the club
He really is a super-talented defender that will become world class, so fans will be excited about this, even though they may have to wait until the summer transfer window to see him arrive.
It is a shame that they cannot get a deal done now, but there will be alot of interest in Kounde in the summer, so getting an agreement in place now is a good idea right?
